|
I'm a PhD member of the Distributed Systems Group at INESC-ID, Lisboa, and assistant professor at Instituto Superior Técnico. Recently, I've been mostly interested in Optimistic Replication in Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing, Distributed Data Deduplication and Software Transactional Memory. This semester, I'm teaching Distributed Systems. For PhD students, I'm also launching a new course on Modern Operating System Kernels (starting in the 2nd Semester 2011/12). If you are looking for a MSc/PhD dissertation subject around my research interests, feel free to drop me an email. To take a look at the Master thesis that I' proposing for this year, follow this link. These smart students are currently working with me on their PhD and MSc theses: Ricardo Filipe (PhD), Marcos Simões (MSc), Joćo Salada (MSc), Francisco Silva (MSc). Besides research and teaching, I support a world-wide environmental initiative called 10:10. I'm also part of MUBi, an association that supports urban cycling, and a bike buddy in Lisboa. And, finally, a big fan of the local passeiolivre.org iniciative. | |
